So Max was visiting from Canada, and the plan was to run the 3-day event at Buttonwillow with Speed Ventures this weekend. I'd drive on Friday and Sunday, and he would drive on Saturday.

Well, that was the plan. Unfortunately in the 3rd run group on Friday I broke the motor. Coming down the front straight the car lost power, and by the end of the straight it had picked up a ton of water/oil temperature and lost a lot of oil pressure. After limping it around the track (it wasn't leaking anything) and pulling into the pits it had no oil pressure at idle and a really nice knock, which sounds like main bearings to me.

So we modified the plan: get extremely drunk that night and drive home Saturday morning.
