Because today we bought an '05 Yamaha Banshee!

It's new, and has pipes and a jet kit installed. 347cc of 2-stroke twin goodness. It also has a 6 speed transmission and weighs 386lbs. We even got the dealer to throw in a free set of paddles for use in the dunes.

I took a fairly wimpy ride down the street, and it wasn't running all that great because it was basically out of gas, but it'll pull the front wheels up just jamming on the throttle in 1st or 2nd gear. It's pretty outrageously fast (not that I'm really an expert on quads or anything).

We're going to take it to Ocotillo for a shakedown run tomorrow morning. Dorothy wants me to take some pictures of her riding it, so I'll have more tomorrow night.

All I can say is it's a good thing she's experienced with quads, because I'd kill myself on this thing pretty quickly. It's fast.
