Patching a hole in the firewall

I received some new tools today--a bunch of clecos and buttwelding clamps. Nothing like a shipment of tools to keep you motivated.

This morning when I walked out to get some clothes out of the dryer, I noticed yet another rusty spot that needed patching. This time on the firewall behind where the RH fender had mounted. Tonight, I cut the rusty metal out, ground the rust off the brace underneath it, and sprayed it with metal ready to neutralize any remaining rust. Then I made cut out a patch, welded it in, and smoothed the welds out.

I ordered a bunch of parts from Classic Industries yesterday--the rest of the stuff I need to fix the roof and a-pillar, and outer cowel panels (you can see the RH one in the photos above). The roof stuff should be here tomorrow, but the cowel panels are backordered for at least 15 days.

Tomorrow on my way to work I'm planning on dropping off some parts to be (professionally) sandblasted and picking up some 16ga metal to patch some rusty spots on the rocker panels. I'll probably work on the rockers before the roof as they're a lot less work.
