Corvette Accusump Mount
I happen to have a spare 3qt Accusump lying around from the Firebird, which will be going to a dry sump oil system eventually, so I decided to move it over to the Corvette.
Yesterday I made a mounting bracket out of spare parts I had lying around the garage:
It's made out of a leftover piece of Locost tubing (.065" wall 1" square tubing) and offcuts of some 16ga sheetmetal I bought for Firebird repair.
There's not a lot of room in these cars, and Accusumps are gigantic. Someone on Corvetteforum mentioned that people have mounted them in the spare tire area in the past, so that's where my bracket goes:
It bolts to the factory attachment points for the spare tire hangers. I have AAA and got sick of pulling the spare tire off for track days, so it's long since been jettisoned.
The line will run up and over the differential and along the transmission support beam. It's a longer run than I'd like, but not actually all that much longer than the lines were on the Firebird. I'm also going to use ECP valving this time as opposed to the manual electric valve I had on the Firebird, which should allow the Accusump to refill more quickly.
